When i saw some of Maria's work I knew that there was a creative and talented craftswoman who has produced some remarkable work.

The passage from culinary art to ceramic artistry was very natural. In both of these arts the dough, the baking and the decoration are all equally important.

The result of her work is a very original baked clay which has the firmness of terracotta and the warmth of a sicilian sweet.

The objects I love the most are brown; they recall images of the old and beautiful land of Sicily, and the nobler ancient greek ceramics that you can see at the archaeological museum of Siracusa.     Maria was born near Siracusa, and its influence is apparent in her work.

Maria creates her terracotta works using skilled hands and her creative imagination.
